Drinks and Chic Cocktails in Marbella and Malaga

· 5 min. read

One of the charms of the Costa del Sol is being able to enjoy a drink while soaking up the good weather. Let’s remember that here there is an average of over three hundred days of sunshine per year. Some prefer wine, others prefer spirits, and some are simply fans of mineral water or coffee. Any option is good if you know how to choose a good place to enjoy your drink in the sun or beneath the stars. When it comes to drinks and cocktails in Marbella and Malaga, the options are truly overwhelming. That’s why in this post, we’ll only suggest some of our favourite places.

The options for going out for a drink on the southern coast of Malaga are so vast for cultural reasons. In Andalusia, people love to socialise and enjoy the good weather, and they end up influencing foreign residents. Some drinking habits in this part of Europe include nibbling on some food with a tasty tapa and a drink, suggesting a “caña” (small beer) to colleagues after work, or going out on a Saturday for a walk and having a vermouth in the late morning to stimulate the appetite. Of course, going out to dinner with your partner or friends, and then looking for a good place with ambiance, music, and cocktails, is also very popular.

That’s why the Costa del Sol has so many bars and restaurants with terraces that offer the opportunity to fully enjoy the outdoors. Likewise, in recent years, Top-Roof-Bars have become very fashionable in many hotels and iconic buildings. And, of course, we can’t forget how pleasant and maritime the Beach Clubs are.

Distinguished Places to Have a Drink in Marbella

11:11 Societé

This beautiful restaurant in the Gran Marbella area will surprise you. Its culinary approach mixes Middle Eastern flavors with Mexican touches. You can start by trying the cocktails at the venue and then decide to sample their menu. Around twenty well-chosen cocktails, and six non-alcoholic extras, will delight your palate. It’s a must to try the Peruvian Pisco Sour if you haven’t already, and any cocktails containing Mezcal or Tequila. If you prefer gin, vodka, or rum flavors, you’ll find your option, and if you like lime or fruity flavors too.

Breath Gastrobar & Garden

Breath is a must in Marbella. This beautiful restaurant with a very original concept is in the lower area of Nueva Andalusia, very close to Puerto Banus. According to its philosophy, “they are dedicated to connecting people, nature, and very fresh gastronomy.” Its lush garden decoration and select ambiance work in its favour. Among the cocktails, we particularly like their Mediterranean Breeze, La Jefa, and their Botanical Moktail (non-alcoholic).

360 Blue Sky Bar

The bar areas of hotels on the Costa del Sol are always a safe bet. Today we want to highlight this one in the Órban Hotel in Marbella because it recently opened. Its location, right in the centre, opposite Alameda Park, is ideal. Thanks to its location, when you go up to the top floor of the hotel complex, you’ll feel surrounded by the entire old town of the city and you’ll even be able to see the sea. Luxury views, especially at sunset. Among its cocktail offerings, the Cuba-Mojito Frutal and Las Vegas-Negroni are very tasty.

Elegant Places to Have a Drink in Malaga

Nusa Cocktel Bar

Located in the wonderful area of the open-air shopping centre and port area Muelle Uno in Malaga, you’ll find this colourful terrace. Here, you can enjoy the art of mixology and elaborate cocktails surrounded by a privileged environment. Its list of proposals is so long, fun, and delicious that yes, you can let yourself be carried away by the names of the drinks. Among its highlights: the Málaga de Cine or Pink Bubbles. Get some suggestions and be surprised.

Speakeasy The Pharmacy

Good jazz music, original decoration, and a lively atmosphere, this is already a vital cocktail to try. If they’ve also opened a new, more spacious venue, it’s because they’re doing well, which tells us that their formula is successful. In fact, they have another venue in Fuengirola that already has a cult following. Upon entering, it looks like a clandestine bar from the time of Prohibition in the United States but beautified. To find it, you must go to García Briz Street in downtown Malaga. Among their formulas, options like Levantamuertos or Prohibition Zombie catch the eye.

La terraza de San Juan

It’s a place for drinks, not exclusively cocktails, but its location on San Juan Street in Malaga will offer you unusual views of the Cathedral. It belongs to a boutique hotel, the Málaga Premium Hotel, but you don’t need to be a guest to enjoy its wonderful terrace on the top floor. Day or night, the experience is different. Manhattan, Murciélago, or Mosco mule 2.0 are some of its star cocktails. Truly a place with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a very recommendable local touch.
